These Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) are designed to be a help guide for those using the Ledgands Pointer Pedigree facility. If after reading these, your question(s) has not been answered please email us and we'll respond as soon as possible.

NO UNLAWFUL OR PROHIBITED USE
All users of the Ledgands Gundogs® website and services, without exception, must agree that they will not use the Ledgands Gundogs® services for any purpose that is unlawful or contrary to these Terms of Use. You also may not use the Ledgands Gundogs® services in any manner that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair the Ledgands Gundogs® services or interfere with any other party's use and enjoyment of them.

attempt to gain unauthorized access to any Ledgands Gundogs® account, computer systems or networks associated with Ledgands Gundogs®.
obtain or attempt to obtain any materials or information through any means not intentionally made available or provided for through the Ledgands Gundogs® Services.
Users are not permitted to use any portion of this site or it's facilities for any illegal or fraudulent purpose.

The following activity on this site is expressly prohibited: Any non-personal or commercial use of any robot, spider, other automatic device, or manual process to monitor or copy portions of this site or the content contained herein without prior written permission by Ledgands.

At all times Ledgands Gundogs reserve the right to barr or terminate access to any facility contained on the site. Users who make or attempt to make Illegal use of the site will be reported to the appropriate authorities. For security reasons, Ledgands record your computer's IP address, date and time of every access to the Ledgands website and it's facilities. It does not record any personal information. This data is examined on a regular basis to ensure compliance with these terms and conditions of use and is only divulged to relevant third parties where access or useage is suspected to be for illegal or fraudulent purposes.

Do I need to apply for a password to use the database? Yes - using this form. - which must be fully completed. Application forms that are not fully completed are deleted without any action taken.

Does applying for access to the database do anything else? Yes. By registering to use Ledgands Online Pointer Pedigree Database you autmatically consent to Ledgands freely photographing your Pointer(s) at UK dog shows and any resulting photo(s) being published on this site. Although not necessary, it would also be helpful if those applying, also completed a photo consent form.

How will my email and access application details be used? Your email address will also be added to Ledgands Mailing List - allowing you to receive "Ringside News" and other Ledgands Website updates, and from time-to-time, important notices/announcements. We will NEVER release any details you provide to ANY third party without your written prior consent. If you request to be removed from our mailing list then Ledgands will remove ALL photos of your Pointer(s) from all relevant show albums; delete your details from the Ledgands Mailing List and close your access account to our Online Pointer Pedigree Database.

Do I have to pay for to view a pedigree online? No. But please be clear that you cannot amend the pedigree details in any way. Nor can you use these pedigrees for any illegal or fraudulent purpose. They are for viewing or research purposes only. What we do ask though is that if you use it in any form of publication or promotion, that you gain prior consent from us and also add a copyright: "produced by Ledgands Gundogs Online Pointer Database - www.ledgands.co.uk ". Failure to comply with this may mean that you are refused permission to use it.

Can I search to see if the Ledgands Database holds a pedigree already? Yes you can. On the main page please click the Search Database button and follow the steps as detailed. Remember that you are free to view pedigrees, but please ensure that if used for any publicity, printing or promotion purposes that you gain our prior written consent and that you add a copyright: "produced by Ledgands Gundogs Online Pointer Database".

What is a "trial" pedigree? This allows you to make and view a 'trial' pedigree based on possible breeding combinations. You can try any Sire with any Dam to see what the pedigree might look like. All the instructions are detailed on the Trial Pedigree page.

Can I enter pedigrees online? Yes. Users of Ledgands Online Pedigree Database are encouraged to help keep the records up to date by supplying details of all Pointers that they breed; notifiying Ledgands of changes to affix's and suffix's. Use this form to provide pedigree entries or updates. Users also also encouraged to shared their pointer databases. All of the data supplied will be merged into our current database and will then be made available online.

How do I enter dogs into your database? Whether your dogs Sire and/or Dam are listed in the database or not you can enter your dogs pedigree by pressing the "Enter Pedigree" button and entering all the data as required on the entry form. If your dogs Sire & Dam are not listed in our database already, then ignore steps 1 & 2 on the pedigree entry page, but complete step 3 and press submit.

How soon will any pedigrees I enter take to appear in the online database? Ledgands update the database periodically - usually every month. This allows enough time to quality and sense check submissions - removing inaccurate or duplicate entries where appropriate. However, Ledgands do not make any guarantees regarding when or if any supplied data will appear in the online database.

How much detail do I need to supply when entering a pedigree? Obviously you need to enter as much information as possible so that we can build comprehensive records. Please answer as many of the questions on the entry form as possible. Remember the following principle: Quality data in > Quality data out. Simple!

Can I add my contact details to the pedigrees I enter? Yes you can. The entry form will give the the options to add your email address and your website address.

Can I send my Breed Mate Database file?: Yes you can. Go to the "program files/BMate" or "program files/Pedx" folder on your C drive. Attach your database file to an email and send to us. Easy!

What is a CSV file? It's a format (Comma-delimited text format) in which data can be exported from many programs including Breed Mate and Breeders Assistant. In your program, usually under the FILE menu, you will usually find an option for exporting data - click EXPORT. In this window you should be able to choose the format into which you'd like you data to be exported ie: CSV. New versions of Breed Mate have an "Export Alfirin" located under the "tools" drop down menu.

What happens with the data supplied? You warrant that you own copyright on any data submitted to us and that supplying it does not infringe any existing copyright or any other rights of any third party and that you have full authority to enter into this Agreement and grant the rights granted to Ledgands® without resulting in a breach of any obligation you may have.

By supplying the data you grant to Ledgands Gundogs® a non-exclusive, worldwide, irrevocable, royalty-free license to use or modify the data for any purpose including publishing on-line. Ledgands Gundogs® may also modify the data or combine it with other data.

All Data is supplied "as is" without any warranty as to its accuracy or completeness and any use of this Data is entirely at the users own risk.

Ledgands (also herein referred to as “we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use any Personal Information you provide to us and how we safeguard the privacy of such information. Words and expressions have the same meanings when used in this Privacy Policy as described in the definitions of Ledgands Terms and Conditions.

We want you to know that we respect the privacy of everyone who visits the Website and everyone who makes an enquiry or purchases Products available on the Website. We set out below what information we learn about you when you visit the Website, what we do with that information and how you can change the information we have.

We do not collect any personal information from our Website visitors so you are free to visit our Website as often as you like without the need to register. This information is used to deliver Products. This information is not stored on our servers.

We want you to feel free to use and explore our Website without worrying about whether your visit will generate unwanted sales or marketing activity such as junk mail or spam. All our staff maintain a responsibility to keep your Personal Information confidential and will only use it to offer relevant products and services related to your enquiry or order.
